Position Overview:
The Merchandise Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to all merchandising guidelines, policies, and procedures within the retail organization. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance and consistency across all merchandise-related activities, both at the store level and within the broader supply chain. The Merchandise Compliance Manager collaborates closely with various stakeholders to identify and address compliance gaps, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive merchandise compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and company requirements.
2. Monitor and enforce merchandise compliance standards across all retail locations, ensuring consistent implementation and execution.
3. Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance levels, identify any deviations, and recommend corrective actions.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and communicate merchandise compliance guidelines to store staff, vendors, and suppliers.
5. Provide guidance and training to retail teams on merchandise compliance matters, ensuring understanding and adherence to established protocols.
6. Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues or concerns, including but not limited to product safety, labeling, packaging, and pricing accuracy.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to merchandise compliance.
8. Partner with the Merchandising team to review and approve new products, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
9. Analyze data and metrics to evaluate compliance performance, identify trends, and develop strategies for improvement.
10. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address compliance-related inquiries or concerns in a timely and accurate manner.
11. Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies, external auditors, and industry organizations to stay informed of emerging compliance issues.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in a similar role within the retail industry, with a focus on merchandise compliance and regulatory requirements.
3. Strong knowledge of local, regional, and national merchandise compliance standards, regulations, and best practices.
4. Excellent understanding of supply chain processes, including sourcing, procurement, and distribution.
5. Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to detect and address compliance gaps.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and recommend effective solutions.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
9. Proficient in using relevant software applications and tools to analyze data, generate reports, and track compliance performance.
10. Strong ethical standards and professional integrity, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
11. Ability to adapt to changing regulations and industry trends, and proactively implement necessary adjustments to compliance programs.
